FAQ'S AND RESOURCES

PARENTS:

How can I get my son or daughter on the cover of Youth Runner Magazine or published on your website?

If you want to get in front of the editors and get your story published in Youth Runner Magazine here's how to get started.

The first step would be to go here and Submit Your Athlete.  The editorial team take a look and may then email or call for an interview or to ask more questions. Sometimes this will lead to a story at our website or in the Submit an Athlete page of Youth Runner Magazine. Filling out the form is not a guarantee that you will be published but it is the way to get in front of our team if we don't already know about you. YR does not have a set criteria on how we choose an athlete for our features.

Good photos do make a difference. If you're sending downsized images from your phone they probably won't be the quality for the magazine but will work for the website.

ATHLETES:

I RUN THE 800 METER AND NEED SOME ADVICE, CAN YOU HELP?

Sure thing, go to Ask a Coach and search for 800 meter articles. If you want tips just for you then Ask a Coach and one of our YR Coaches will respond and see if they can point you in the right direction. You can Ask about training for any track or running event.

PHOTOGRAPHERS:

WHAT ARE YOUR GUIDELINES FOR SUBMITTING IMAGES?

-Hi-Resolution at 300 dpi
-If you're not a professional that may sound confusing, but it just means we'd like the pictures straight out of the camera without resizing or compressing.
-If you compress it usually takes it down to 72 dpi which then makes it good for website publication only.

HOW DO I UPLOAD MY PICTURES FOR PUBLICATION?

First, find out from the editor what pictures may be useful for publication. E-mail at editor@youthrunner.com. Then we can share a dropbox folder for you.

WRITERS:

WHAT ARE YOUR WRITER GUIDELINES FOR YOUTHRUNNER?

HOW DO WE GET OUR EVENT SPONSORED?

That's not as easy as it used to be but we can give you some tips or a proposal if you'll fill out the contact form. Then someone will call and chat about the possibilities and how we can assist your event or meet.

STUDENTS:

DO YOU HAVE INTERNSHIPS FOR STUDENTS AT YOUTHRUNNER MAGAZINE?

What we offer are opportunities for students that are pursuing a career in sports journalism to get published. No one really wants to spend their days stuffing envelopes and doing busy work as a resume builder. This could mean doing interviews, writing a story based on your experience as a runner, or posting to our social media outlets. The important part is that you'll work with one of our editors to find out what's important to our demographic and actually get published before you check back into class in the fall. Some of our past interns have even been "Guest Editors" in Youth Runner Magazine. We'd love to hear from you. Hit the contact form or email editor@youthrunner.com.

I'M A HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT AND WORK ON THE SCHOOL NEWSPAPER, DO YOU EVER WORK WITH HS REPORTERS?

Yes we do. Drop us an email and see what we can do to set you up with a blog and a way to get the news out about your school team.

TEAM PARENTS:

DOES YOUTHRUNNER HAVE ANY "FUNDRAISING" OPPORTUNITIES?

Companies are always approaching us with the flavor of the month for groups to raise money and we'll post those if we think they're legit. What we offer is a way for teams and groups to fundraise with Youth Runner Magazine Subscriptionswhere you keep one half of what you sell. We set up a promot code or a special checkout page. All you need to do is send your team parents and supporters to that page to purchase. The team volunteer gets a login so you can track all the sales.

HOW DO I FIND A TEAM OR A CLUB FOR MY CHILDREN TO PARTICIPATE IN?

Go the the Team Guide and search. If you don't find anything try the contact form and we'll see if we can help.
